Hohenkammer Castle – Setting an example with sustainability
An idyllic rural landscape, traditional cultivation and sustainable agriculture – all just 30 kilometres from Munich. The beautifully restored Hohenkammer Castle is located in a small community with a history dating back over 1,200 years and houses a top-class seminar centre. The castle offers 162 rooms, 26 seminar and conference rooms plus various areas for hosting celebrations.
The agricultural estate of Gut Eichethof comprises 300 hectares of land and 500 hectares of forest which also supply raw materials for energy production. The area has been consistently ecologically farmed since 1992 and has enjoyed considerable economic success. The principle of sustainability is a means of devising a successful future rather than a return to the good old days.
Guided by high quality standards, scientific expertise is just as important as practical experience. The core business of farming is the reproduction of organic seeds of which the estate is one of the biggest producers, including being number one in Bavaria. Angus cattle, Mangalitza pigs and various chicken species are reared here for the company’s own use. Further top products based on its own organic farming include pumpkin seed oil and various fruit vinegars.
More than 1,000 fruit trees and shrubs provide the raw materials for fine brandies ranging from apple to damson. 24 high-quality products are available nowadays, of which five are matured in Italian oak casks. The brandies are sold in particular to guests at the conference centre and at the castle restaurant.
At the World Spirits Award, the company achieved classification as a First Class Distillery 2014. There was also gold for the Rheinischer Bohnapfel (apple brandy), Traubenbrand Holzfass (a grape brandy aged in a wooden cask) and Vogelbeer Maulbeerfass (rowanberry aged in a mulberry cask).

Darauf einen Hüpperling: Organic vodka for wholesome enjoyment
The production focuses on wholesomeness and excellent quality, all hand-crafted, without artificial additives, only with traditional distilling skills and regional ingredients such as the finest wheat and the purest primary rock spring water from a Natura 2000 European nature reserve. The wheat for ‘DEH’ comes from fields in Biberbach at the heart of the Mostviertel region and is organically certified. It is shredded and carefully processed into a mash, fermented for 72 hours and then distilled 60-fold in a column still to achieve the required purity. Only the ‘core’ is refined for the vodka. After a rest phase for the 96% alcohol, the distillate is reduced to drinking strength with granite water. This is followed by at least a year of storage until the balance and mildness have been achieved.
Destillerie Farthofer in Öhling in the Amstetten district of the Mostviertel in Lower Austria is responsible for the production. The retailer and trademark owner is Frank Hüpperling from Berlin, an architect and drummer. During a band rehearsal with his music band B3+, the ‘DEH’ idea was born and then created together with Josef Farthofer in 2020. The trademark has been registered under his name since 2020 at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office. He has been certified as an organic retailer since 2021. And this is how he himself speaks of his organic vodka: “Quality doesn’t need ice. Mixing, cutting and icing are completely unnecessary here. This vodka is enjoyed pure and at room temperature (18 – 20°C), because the best quality doesn’t need any frost. Only then does its full glory come into its own.”

Georg Hemmeter – XUXU, Escorial, SILLA EL FUERTE
Georg Hemmeter – strawberry drinks with exceptional flavour guaranteed
The name Georg Hemmeter – a company of the Underberg Group – stands for innovative spirits, in particular the XUXU range. The fresh and fruity strawberry drink contains 66 percent fruit plus crystal-clear vodka, rounded off with a dash of lime. The harmony between the sweetness of the fruit and just 15% alcohol by volume is created using a special production method. XUXU Ten, the little luxury in a 250 ml aluminium bottle with only 10% alcohol by volume, is dressed to party – it is still relatively new to the market, yet is already at home in all the world’s top party venues.
XUXU can be served in so many different ways: chilled, neat, on crushed ice, as a dessert topping, with sparkling wine or with other mixers – XUXU tastes heavenly and offers fresh and fruity pleasure. Welcome to Berrydise!
Initially the absolute top star in Greece, XUXU is now also number 1 in Russia, and extremely popular in Turkey and Italy too.
XUXU Strawberry & Vodka Drink and XUXU Ten won Gold at the World Spirits Award 2014.

Luding Group: Vodka Tchaikovsky as a high-spirited homage to the famous composer
At the beginning of the 1990s, the modern distillery ‘Fortuna’ was launched in a green field in the south of Russia – in the Krasnodar region, a strip of land with spa resorts and health centres. The distillery has specialised in unusual products, in a region with a particularly green fingerprint. The vodka created in honour of the great Russian composer Tchaikovsky is special. The concept for this exceptional product is comparable with one of his musical scores: the work ‘Swan Lake’ served as an inspiration. Art enthusiasts can thus immerse themselves in the history of Russian estate life in the 19th century. The traditional white and blue colours underline the purity of this vodka.
The technical particularities span a wide quality-orientated spectrum: from the selected wheat, their own well water and the special treatment of the distillate with skimmed milk powder to the crystal-clear filtration with active birch coal. With so much perfectionism and monitoring of the individual production steps, the result is an especially gentle, animating and very typical vodka based on wheat. After the diluting of alcohol and pure distillate, the production process is continued with maturation in steel tanks. The aim is to ‘wed’ both ‘waters’, resulting in an especially harmonious vodka.
At the World Spirits Award 2022, Vodka Tchaikovsky was awarded double gold and honoured as the best vodka with the title ‘Spirit of the Year’.
