Kreuzritter - Elixirum Digestivum, created by masters
The beneficial effects of herbs have been known for thousands of years - from Chinese and Indian herbal medicine which focused on the digestive system to Arabic medicine and the medicines of the Middle Ages. A modern interpretation of this long-established knowledge, based on medical expertise and nutritional physiology, is offered by a physician, a nutritionist and a spirits expert from the town of Mühlen in Lower Saxony, famous for its horse-riding.
These experts set themselves the task of creating high-quality herb liqueurs and aquavits for demanding consumers using top-quality raw materials from specialist producers and based on elaborate and unusual recipes. The specialists from Lower Saxony base their concoctions of herbs, spices, aromas and essence compositions on natural ingredients.
The key to the "Kreuzritter" digestion elixir is eleven secret herbs, the effects of which were noted centuries ago in the herbal medicines of the Far East. It also contains 47 additional extracts ranging from aloe to white turmeric, renowned for their positive effects in terms of both stimulating digestion and soothing the stomach. The "Dreiling" is a typical aquavit with hints of caraway, anis, geum and the aroma of dill. It also contains a complex mix of herbs including coriander, ginger, lemongrass, fennel, orris root, camomile and mace. Its mild flavour is the result of using high-quality brandies made from wheat, rye and spelt which are stored in oak casks for over eight years. The "Herzdame" (queen of hearts) completes this trio of specialities - a fresh and fruity liqueur.
The Kreuzritter and Dreiling performed well at the World-Spirits Award, securing a silver for Lower Saxony.

Kiuchi Brewing and Distilling: Authentic products with a long tradition
The Kiuchi sake brewery was founded in 1823 in the city of Naka in Ibaraki Prefecture. High-quality ingredients and great craftsmanship have been used for generations. When Mikio Kiuchi took over the brewery in the 1950s, the sake industry, like the rest of the economy, was growing rapidly, flooding the market with mass-produced goods. However, Kiuchi stuck to its high-end philosophy, the trademark of the company since its foundation. The family seized the opportunity of entering the craft beer market, buying equipment from abroad and incorporating their sake brewing experience into beer production. The whiskey business was launched in 2016, and the ‘Hinomaru Whiskey’ and ‘Hinomaru Gin’ brands were created to mark the anniversary year 2023.
Traditions have been passed on and refined in the search for authentic sake brewing. An old community centre was renovated and became the new location of the brewery and distillery. This is a meeting place where people from the area gather and chat as they used to, and can now also enjoy a whiskey. In addition to a tour and a tasting corner, there is also a popular restaurant.
At the World Spirits Award, the First Class Distillery received gold for Hinomaru Gin Craft, Kiuchi rice shochu Ginka edition, silver for Kikusakari Awashizuku Sparkling Sake Vintage 2008, Hinomaru Whiskey Sakura Cask aged 6 years, Hinomaru Whiskey SAKURA blended, Hinomaru Whiskey Signature 1823, Hinomaru whisky The 1st barrels, and bronze for Hinomaru whisky sherry cask 6 years.

Georg Hemmeter – XUXU, Escorial, SILLA EL FUERTE
Georg Hemmeter – strawberry drinks with exceptional flavour guaranteed
The name Georg Hemmeter – a company of the Underberg Group – stands for innovative spirits, in particular the XUXU range. The fresh and fruity strawberry drink contains 66 percent fruit plus crystal-clear vodka, rounded off with a dash of lime. The harmony between the sweetness of the fruit and just 15% alcohol by volume is created using a special production method. XUXU Ten, the little luxury in a 250 ml aluminium bottle with only 10% alcohol by volume, is dressed to party – it is still relatively new to the market, yet is already at home in all the world’s top party venues.
XUXU can be served in so many different ways: chilled, neat, on crushed ice, as a dessert topping, with sparkling wine or with other mixers – XUXU tastes heavenly and offers fresh and fruity pleasure. Welcome to Berrydise!
Initially the absolute top star in Greece, XUXU is now also number 1 in Russia, and extremely popular in Turkey and Italy too.
XUXU Strawberry & Vodka Drink and XUXU Ten won Gold at the World Spirits Award 2014.

Ehrenwert GmbH: One recipe – two families
One recipe – two families. Each family has its own carefully guarded secret recipe, and with the Lücke family this remained in the hands of grandfather Heinz and later his son Dieter for many decades. Long enough, thought sons Thomas and Christian. In any case, it is the ‘Felsenfeuer’ herb liqueur that once made the Lücke Distillery one of the most important in Münsterland. After the war they continued the success story which first began in the 18th century, with this herb liqueur, using the recipe that Heinz Lücke worked out. In the 1950s everyone was talking about it, but in the 1960s the era of the distillery and the herb liqueur ended. But not for good – 60 years later it celebrated its resurrection with the ‘Freudenfeuer’.
Whilst searching for a distillery, Thomas and Christian kept to family tradition, as their grandmother was a Sasse, and the Sasses’ fine distillery in Schöppingen is still well known today. Following a traditional recipe from 1947 the new liqueur is distilled in small batches and is bottled by hand after a ten-day rest period. Ready to enjoy: neat and ice cold like in the time of our grandfathers, or smoother, on ice with lightly pressed orange zest, or as a basis for a long drink with tonic water or ginger ale. To old times and new friends!
At the World Spirits Award, there was gold for Freudenfeuer.
